Unleashed

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

For Jet Li fans Unleashed will not be a disappointment. It has all the necessary elements to keep his fan-base happy: fights, fights and more fights. But Unleashed offers something else Jet Li fans may not have been expecting from their favorite superhero…acting. Yes Jet Li actually acts in this new film something we have rarely seen from him in his American endeavors but definitely a nice surprise.

Unleashed tells the story of Danny (Jet Li) a man trained as an attack dog and used by a low level enforcer to ensure that those who owe him money are paying on time and in full. Danny is treated like a dog in every way from the cage he sleeps in, to the food he’s given to eat out of the can, to the collar that he wears around his neck. And the collar is where all the trouble lies: Collar on, Danny is docile and manageable. Take the collar off and Danny is a ferocious killer who is not going to stop until all that he has been told to attack is dead.

After a series of unfortunate events, Danny escapes and his found and taken in by a family Stanley (Morgan Freeman) a blind piano tuner and his daughter Sasha a musical prodigy studying at a prestigious music academy. Of course Danny’s owners discover where he’s at and all hell breaks loose as they try to get him back and Danny tries to protect the family he has come to love.

All in all, the movie is entertaining enough. The fight scenes as to be expected are amazing. There was one sequence early in the movie when Danny is unleashed on some folk who were trying to shaft his handler and the whup ass they experienced was priceless. But like many movies with excessive levels of fighting the scenes soon become repetitive and predictable.

The other problem with the fighting is this: Why didn’t someone just shoot Danny? I don’t know about you but if I knew this loan shark that I owed money to, had this hitman if you will, who didn’t use a gun but was essentially a trained fighter, I’d shoot him on sight. As a matter of fact I would but out a hit on Danny to ensure that I never would have to deal with him again. Apparently, however, none of the other criminals in the movie thought about that and suffered greatly for it.

I will say the Jet Li’s acting was pretty good. Danny is a character that has been sorely mistreated and is quite unfamiliar with any aspect of the world other then violence. Watching him learn how to grocery shop or his first experience with ice cream was sweet and touching. Li did an excellent job portraying a man who is experiencing kindness for the first time, add to that his youthful appearance and the difficulty in determining his age, Danny’s childlike behavior and wonder at the world is all the more believable.

All in all if you’re a Jet Li fan this is the movie for you. You’ll get the fighting you want and the chance to enjoy your favorite action hero flexing his acting chops. If you’re not a fan, stay home. It’s not really the movie for you and you’ll probably enjoy it as a rental more then spending your time and money at the theatre.

Online Slot Systems - Can They Make Consistent Profits?

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

You will find numerous vendors advertising online slot systems that they claim will guarantee that you can win regularly and win big payouts.

The question we will answer here is can any online slot system work?

The answer is a resounding no.

Common sense should tell you that if online slot systems did work the vendors would not bother selling them, they would simply use them for themselves and make a fortune.

They wouldn’t need your few hundred dollars!

Let’s look at the proof, that will show you that an online slot system can NEVER work.

There is no way to make guaranteed profits from games of chance, and online slot machines are a game of chance.

In mathematics, you know what will happen next as you have past data to look at and predict from.

In games of chance however you never know what is going to happen next.

Mathematical systems must look at past data to predict the future, however if the past data is random, it cannot be used to predict the future as the data is irrelevant.

There is a formula but you can never work it out!

The winning combinations produced by online slot machines are generated by a Random Number Generator (RNG) which is in built in every online slot machine.

The RNG is a series of codes written into the software of the game chip, generating numbers at a rate of a 100 a second.

These numbers corresponds to a result on the reels.

The effect of this for the player is that he has to spin the reels at EXACTLY the 1 / 100 of a second a winning combination is generated.

The formula and speed of the RNG

The RNG is not strictly random, it is actually programmed to a formula, but you will never be able to work it out.

If you had access to the formula ( which of course you never will)of the RNG and the value of the last random number generated, you would be able to calculate the next random number and look for the winning play.

The problem is, even if you were able to do this it still wouldn’t help you.

This is due to the speed of the calculations being made.

Keep in mind what we said earlier, there are 100 calculations every second and the human brain simply cant work that quickly!

You can’t predict winning plays in online slots

Many players rely on certain patterns in online slot systems.

For instance, if a slot machine has not paid out for a while its due a payout.

Wrong, the RNG is programmed over the longer term and can go for long periods not paying out at all, or even having several quick payouts in quick succession.

Other players look at the reels, but the reels are purely for entertainment and do not correspond at all to how the RNG calculates winning payouts.

They are simply there for the excitement and entertainment factor.

The fact the reels show you were close does not mean you are getting closer or that one combination will follow another.

As you can see from the above the RNG is a marvel of technology and it is impossible to beat it, even if you were given the formula of how it calculates winning payouts!

There are ways to increase your chances of winning at online slots, but buying online slot machine systems is not one of them.

Beware of So-Called Baccarat Strategy

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

Card Counting is one of those phony ideas published in baccarat strategy books. Card counting is most often associated with the game of blackjack - and is very effected, used correctly in the right casino. It could also seem to be of real worth in baccarat as the game does work off a comparable shoe. The issue that causes the problem is that of used cards be reintroduced into the shoe before very many have been taken out, thereby flummoxing any count made up to that point! Baccarat also, unlike Blackjack, does not allow the player the right to change his bet mid-hand in play. Blackjack allows this practice in a number of specific cases, and the player can increase his bet if his count changes during play. In baccarat, card counting presents very few situations with an advantage against the house that the actual overall labours are of no value to the player at all.

Baccarat can be considered a very elaborate coin toss game. This oversimplified impression of the game lures many players to using the Martingale based system of betting which entails doubling up on ones’ bet each time a hand is lost. The Logic being that you eventually have to win, and the doubling will allow you to recoup all losses made from all the preceding hands! A perfect system indeed and one that actually can’t be beaten in games like baccarat or roulette, and it is because of this that casinos issued new rules. The new rules limit how much a player can bet in 1 hand.

Casinos effectively got rid of the threat of the Martingale System gambler or player by setting Table maximums (and minimums). i.e. A player bets $5 on the banker and lost. Next bet, $10 on the banker, next bet $20, etc, and he continues to lose. Before long, his bet will have doubled up to a point that it will exceed the table maximum. In this case the player can’t bet any higher and his system has failed, he must quit.
The Martingale System is a horrific betting system that follows a human beings panic thinking - their natural thought pattern that somehow believes that if a coin lands heads up 9x in a row, there is a greater chance than 50% that it will land tails on the 10th flip! IT DOES NOT WORK!

So - if all these strategies and systems - card counting, pattern spotting, streak spotting etc are worthless strategies for baccarat - is there any good one? Well…practically and mathematically speaking… when you analyse the numbers, the odds do seem to always be in favour when a player bets on the banker, though this is a very boring tactic to play. Perhaps throw in some pattern chasing to break the tedium, or count the scorecards!

Selecting Funeral Music

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

Our society is one that has long incorporated ceremony into important events. And for this reason, a funeral may often be just as elaborately planned as a wedding. In some cases, the surviving family members will address all the funeral details when they make the arrangements. Many others actually make their own funeral arrangements prior to their death including all of the details most important to them. This may include a request for a certain person to perform the service, the choosing of particular flowers, and even the selection of funeral music.

If this is the case – as it often is – then arranging the funeral, including the funeral music, is simply a matter of setting into motion those choices that were already made. If loved ones are left to make the decisions then choices need to be made during an already stressful and exhausting period of time. Funeral music - like all particulars of the funeral – should reflect the individual personality of the deceased.

To provide funeral music that will reveal the taste and personality of the person you wish to honor, look to that person’s personal music collection. You will undoubtedly find clues as to the type of music the deceased most enjoyed – and even particular albums, tapes, and CDs by specific artists.

There are a variety of ways in which to use funeral music; you can have music playing while guests are entering prior to the service; you can set beautiful and personal music to a DVD of still pictures of the deceased; you can even take breaks throughout the service to play different pieces of funeral music.

No matter how you incorporate funeral music into the service, it is an extremely personal decision. The result should be a customized and special ceremony that honors your loved one.

Is Heroes Moving Too Slow for Television?

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

Heroes remains entertaining and intriguing, even as it frustrates. I’m a sucker for anything involving superheroes and, therefore, I should be eating this show up. And, to be fair, I kind of am. However, I do have doubts about its future and, although the next two episodes may extinguish those fears, Heroes is going to need to step on the gas pedal, and soon.

Let’s face it: if you were to combine the first three episodes of Heroes into a film, it would be a Robert Altman movie. The characters are vaguely connected, if at all, and it’s beginning to get tedious jumping from one story to the next, knowing that we may only see a character once or twice an episode. Heroes, as it stands now, is a series of vignettes whose only through-line is the fact that these people have superpowers which, crazily, they′ve only now discovered, at roughly the same time.

Ensemble dramas are hard enough to pull of when all the characters reside in the same zip code, but become exponentially more difficult when you scatter them across the country. The vignettes are interesting, but at this point we understand all the Heroes and their powers. The sheer amount of exposition us viewers have experienced is staggering.

We’re not stupid. We know that the main characters will eventually interact. By extension, we’re aware that the conflicts they face before they meet are, ultimately, inconsequential. It’s not unexpected when Ali Larter’s stripper character eludes the small-time gangsters. I want to see her (and her mirror twin) face the real baddies.

I’ll admit that when a show has you greedy for action (as I am), it’s done its job. Passion in any way is a success, and avoiding indifference is what really matters. Heroes has the potential to be great and I’m convinced that either a) the creators are toying with us, building the story slowly with the knowledge of a spectacular payoff, or b) they don’t know where they’re going and the writers are spinning their wheels, trying to milk as many episodes out of as little action as possible. Whatever the case, Heroes has me watching and, though a little frustrated, I plan on giving the show a chance to wow me. Or disappoint me. Who knows?

Unexplored Tribal Dance From Jharkhand, India

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

Chhou Naach (Chhou Dance):

There are very little documentations available on traditional art, craft and culture of tribal of Jharkhand, India. This article provides an overview of one of the most exciting tribal dance “Chhou Naach” which is yet to be explored completely. However, state government of Jharkhand, India organizes various cultural events in the state but Chhou dance is very rarely done. This is not because people performing Chhou dance are
conservative, but because of lack of knowledge or lack of promotion of this traditional dance form. This article is a little effort for the promotion of Traditional Tribal Culture.

Locality:

Chhou dance is found in the tribal areas of Jharkhand and some parts of Chattisgarh and Orissa states of India. There are no specific evidences available which describe the actual history behind Chhou dance. Hence, it is assumed that Chhou dance is one of the advanced dance form of traditional tribal dance which has developed gradually during the course of interactions with other neighboring cultures.

Introduction:

“Chhou Naach” is a dance mostly done in open field and in the night. The dance arena is generally surrounded by fire poles called mashaal for lighting purpose. However, due to the urbanization in some parts, fire poles have been replaced by electrical lights. The artists go for a bath and puja before performing this dance as the characters they play are of gods. The Chhou dancers use big size colourful decorative masks. These masks are made of paper mache’, light wood and paper. Chhou naach is a tribal form of “nritya natika” (Dance Drama) where various characters with Chhou masks play mythological characters. Most of these plays are based on “Mahabharat” and “Ramayan”. This mythological touch in Chhou dance makes it very spiritual and respectful. The characters of Chhou dance wear traditions ornaments and dance with weapons. Their cloths
are very colourful. Chhou dance should NOT be misunderstood with other folk dances of India like Kuchipudi etc. Chhou dance involves lots of gymnastic actions in the dance sequences and most of the characters are very aggressive in nature. This dance drama is supported by traditions nagada(Drums) and flute as background sound and rhythm of dance action varies with the modulations of drum beats. The audience enjoying Chhou Naach feels increase in their heart beats.

Unlike other tribal dances, direct contribution from women in Chhou dance is not visible. This also makes Chhou dance different from other folk dances of tribes.

Photography

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

Since photography was discovered in the 19th century, it has since become the most accepted method for creating scenery, paintings and other artistic images. It also assists in science research and documentation for its objectivity. A camera can accurately represent reality, without leaving any details out.

In this paper I’ll try to take a look at the photography in the
colonial era, representations of other cultures with the aid of a
photographic camera and the issues of objectivity and whether the
colonial images can be considered documents or not.

Invention of photography in the 19th century occurred at the same time
with other technical innovations that came to revolutionize the whole
way of life in the Western society. Technical innovations have led not
only to the rise of science, but the invention of railroads led to the
growing travel and allowed for the transportation of cumbersome
photographic equipment to the places far from home. In science

photography seemed to penetrate almost every area and became
especially popular in studying human movement in anatomy and picturing
objects and classifying them in zoology and archeology. In travel, in
the first half of the 19th century visiting Eastern countries was
especially popular. Before the 1840’s there were numerous attempts to
make daguerreotypes of the oriental voyages, but the business of
producing daguerreotypes proved to extremely difficult while on the
move. Not only the equipment was incredibly cumbersome, but the
process of producing images on glass plates was time-consuming and
demanded huge resources. It was after the 1840’s when the photographic
paper was invented that travel photography increased rapidly.
Landscapes of Egypt, India and the Mediterranean became truly popular
among both professional and amateur photographers.

Later half of the 19th - beginning of the 20th century was the time of
empires and colonial expansion. On the photography of this period and
especially early 1900′s I’m going to concentrate. Colonial conquest
attracted numbers of people seeking money and adventure into
exploration of Asian and African countries. Some of those taking
photographic equipment along were colonial administrators or workers,
others included scientists like archeologists and anthropologists.

The science of anthropology became established in the colonial era and
was in a way a consequence of the colonial encounter. Anthropologists
maintained close ties with colonial administration and back home
anthropological exhibitions were organized displaying both the
photographs and cultural artifacts gathered by anthropologists.
Anthropology of that period tried to show that humans gradually
evolved from nature to civilization and while the Western
civilization was on top of the evolutionary ladder, “primitive″
societies were more or less in their natural state. The concept of
race and classification of human kind into racial categories needed
visual illustration. Anthropologists argue that
anthropology of the period was visually oriented that the ability to
visualize a culture or society becomes synonymous for understanding it.

Photographs played an important part not only as objects of
exhibitions, but there were means to bring the images of colonial
reality to the homes of European bourgeoisie to provide with
information about areas under colonial government and reassure once
again of the supremacy of Western culture and inferiority of the
Other.

Lang’s eugenic anthropology photographs where concerned with the
correct identification of racial types of the Congo Pygmies. In his
writings Lang describes his concerns with whether the Mbuti were a
degenerate type of Negroes and his search for the truly typical
members of the tribe. “Scientific″ procedures in choosing the
subjects of photographs were typical examples of colonialists’
treatment of the colonized characterized by disrespect and treatment
of people somewhat like in the procedure of cattle selection.
According to the description to select the typical, Lang lined his
subjects up and pulled every 3rd, 5th, or 7th person from the line.
This procedure resembling photographing prisoners without any respect
for their identity was justified by methods of science where
elimination of any personal preference was needed.

As with other colonial districts photographers traveled to bring
images of the colonized peoples to the Europeans. In Baum there were
different kinds of photographers involved in producing the
photographic portrayal of the region. Every one of them was motivated
by own motives and rewards. Missionary photographers sought to produce
images of those conversed into Christian faith, that served as a means
of colonial propaganda back at home. One of the favorite ways of
portrayal was showing the Africans as “unenlightened savages” compared
with their later descriptions as educated, proper Christians. Another
group of photographers in Baum included amateurs seeking financial
rewards for the pictures produced for ethnographic museums and private
collections. Colonial officials also took photographs for the purpose
of showing the advance of civilization into the dark Africa. Yet
another group of photographers consisted of anthropologists using
photography as a means of producing records of their scientific
research.

In both colonial photographs of Lang and Bamum images, the
photographers tried to depict the image of the other confirming the
already existent stereotypes. The images are quite different with the
former presenting the backward and primitive people while the latter
show fascination with the exotic. Colonial photographs intended as
objective documentations of colonial reality are in fact the product
of photographers’ own preconceptions about the photographed and
fulfillment of own prejudices combined with the complex relation
between the colonisers and colonised. As colonial images show ,
however the colonisers tried to objectify the colonised, their project
has failed with colonised often representing the colonial reality
either by means of parodying it or appearing exactly as the colonisers
wanted them to be.

If the photographs have to be used as historical records, than the
condition in which they were taken has to be considered and their
subjectivety has got to be considered.

International Lottery Tickets

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

A lottery is a popular form of gambling in which numbers are drawn in anticipation of winning a monetary prize. As some governments forbid it, others had endorsed it to the extent that a national lottery was formulated. It was expected, however, that the governments were authorized to regulate the lottery to some degree.

Lotteries were organized to be effective in many formats. The prize was distributed as fixed cash or goods. This format ensured that there was a risk to the organizer if insufficient tickets were sold. Meaning, the reward was a fixed percentage of the receipts. On the other hand, if each ticket that was sold had a unique number, then perhaps the prize would demonstrate guaranteed uniqueness. Furthermore, many recent lotteries allow purchasers to select the numbers on the international lottery tickets resulting in the possibility of multiple winners.

In some countries, deciding on a payment option is not a challenging task due to the fact that lottery winnings are not subject to personal income tax. Therefore, no tax consequences will be administered. Specifically Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom distribute all prizes immediately after winners are declared. The monetary prize is paid out as a lump sum, tax free to the winner.

Contrarily, some countries such as the United States, require taxes to be withheld from the lump sum prize. Although, the winner has the opportunity to choose between annuity payment and a one time payment, the one time payment is much smaller. Most often, the winner is presented with only half of the advertised jackpot; this is the amount that is offered even before the tax is withheld. The annuity option provides regular payments to be dispersed over time subsequently extending from ten to forty years.

Coincidently, with various online lotteries, the annual payments may be as minute as $25,000 over forty years to include a balloon payment on the final year. Government–backed securities often implemented the investment of these type instalment payments. The insurance back-up of online lotteries was responsible for paying the winners. However, many winners opted to take the lump-sum payment as they conceived that they were able to obtain a better rate of return on the investment elsewhere.

To date, lottery is played in almost every country all over the world. The prize money distributed to the lucky winners may vary from a few hundred or up to hundreds of thousands and even billions. Researches have reported that three lotteries from the United States alone New York State, Massachusetts and Texas lotteries are included in the ten largest lotteries in the world. However, documentation proves that the largest lotteries are located in Spain, Japan, France, Italy and the United Kingdom.

With possible winnings of up to $10.4 billion, The Loterias y Aquestas del Estado in Spain is the largest in the world. The Mizuho Bank Ltd in Japan is the second largest with just $0.2 billion less than Spain. At $9.8 billion, the Bettors at Frances in Francaise des Jeux of France are the third in line. Italy’s lottery enthusiast jump in at number four with $8.9 billion. The National Lottery of the United Kingdom is the fifth largest. The Kookmin Bank Lottery in Korea and the Sisal Sports Italia S.p.A. lottery of Italy round out the eighth and ninth positions.

If you desire to join lotteries, it is suggested that you purchase tickets issued by organizers of syndicates.

Crows Bait! Spiritually High!

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

Crows Bait!

No matter what we achieve in this life,
the greatest glory or the greatest gain.
The highest office or the greatest shame,
we leave it all behind!
Whether heroes or villains
We all end up the same.

Spiritually High!

Some of use to try and still probably try!
To use chemicals to get a spiritual high!
But after years or moments of abuse—-
We found that…..they left us flat
On our backs—–or on our faces!
In some strange places!

Then—– we vowed
never do it again!
But heard the sweet calling of our old friend
Then reluctantly answered again!
And rebegan……the descent down the hole
In our Soul!

Blindly seeking relief form the cold wind’s bite!
In the belly of the beast—in the belly of the fright!
Smiling on the outside….but on the inside sad
And maybe deep down….. hurt or mad!
But too proud to show it…..own it or know it!

Just skipping in the darkness we “know” as the light
A walking daydreamer with eyes closed tight!
Cause what frightens us most…..and most of us to death
Is becoming aware……of how we’ve deceived ourselves!

A spiritual high is anything but thing a thing
Ring, a ding ding ding……ding a ling ling!

When we’ve freed ourselves from the chemical hole
And beheld the true light glittering in our soul!
Like a bird from its cage….our soul shall fly
Then we′ll truly be…..Spiritually high!

Bye!
