Top 7 Ways to Tell If Your Texas Holdem Poker Opponent Is Bluffing

Friday, July 31st, 2009

Carotid Artery pulsation. This can tend to be a clear indication that your Texas Holdem Opponent is getting anxious and they are experiencing an increased heart rate. Look for the pulsations to the side of their neck and you will be good to go.

Smiling. Especially in cases where the mark will usually not be smiling. If this an out of the ordinary occurrence from them, you’ve got them. Be confident and take them to the bank.

Fiddling with cards in hand. This is another one of the most common tells in Texas Holdem Poker which means they are in all likelihood holding less than nothing.

Avoiding eye contact / looking away. When they are afraid that you will be able to look into their soul and tell that they are holding rags in their hand, you know that your poker hand will have no problem beating theirs. Raise and re-raise.

Talking more than usual. If your mark is a typically quite Texas Holdem poker player with a sudden gift for gab, then they are bluffing (or trying to, at least).

Talking less than usual. Vice-versa, if they are normally very talkative and this time suddenly clam up, rest assured they are trying to snub you. Go get them!

Tuning Your Guitar The Right Way

Friday, July 31st, 2009

Proper maintenance is important to any technical piece of equipment, all the way from vehicles down to instruments that you play. The guitar is no exception. One of the things that you must do on a regular basis is to tune the strings on your guitar.

Without doing this, they can stretch and the sound will be distorted. Tuning your guitar every so often will help prevent you from looking like an idiot in front of your friends whenever you are trying to impress them with your musical skills.

There is a standard, as there always seems to be, involved in guitar tuning and it is conveniently labeled the standard guitar tuning method. The standard involves tuning the strings from the thickest to the thinnest. The order should be E, A, D, G, B, E.

This method is the easiest methods because it is the easiest for tuning the most amounts of scales and chords. The way to start this method is with the E string. The E string is the thickest, and the least likely to fall short of tuning.

The A string is the next string that you should tune. The way to adjust the A string is to place your finger on the fret, pick the fifth and sixth strings while adjusting the fifth string tuning peg until the two notes sound the same. The D string comes next in line.

The way to find the proper D string note is to find the A string that is located just behind the fifth fret. You then turn the fourth string to that note. Tune your G string to the note that rings when you put the first finger on your left hand just behind the fifth fret.

The B string should sound like when your first finger of your left hand is placed behind the forth fret. You should recognize that the tuning of the B string is the only one in the method that uses the fourth fret and not the fifth. Last is the E string which is where you place the first finger of, you guessed it, your left hand behind the fifth fret on the B string.

There are other ways to tune your guitar, but they can get more complicated. You can use an online guitar tuner. You can customize these tuners or you can use the standard method in order to hear how the note is supposed to sound. There are many sites that you can visit in order to find an online tuner, but when you find a site that you like, you should bookmark it in your favorites so that you can easily find it the next time.

If you don’t have a keen ear attuned to different pitches, you might want to invest in an electric tuner. With this device you can look at a tuning monitor to see how off-tune each string on your guitar is. Then, by following the needle on the display, you can tune each string on your guitar according to the reading given on the electric tuner.

Even if you do have a trained ear, electric tuners can come in handy if you’re trying to tune your equipment just before a gig. Noises and other distractions can keep your ear from creating just the right sound on your guitar strings.

If you’re experienced enough, you can tune your guitar by using piano notes. This is quite difficult to do though, especially if you’re not trained in tuning your guitar with this method. Experts and musicians who have been performing for years can also tune their instruments though harmonies and octaves, but this might only confuse the beginning guitar player.

If you’re unsure about your tuning abilities, it is best to just stick with the other methods, such as an electric tuner, to make sure that your strings are tuned to just the right pitch.

How To Play A Guitar

Friday, July 31st, 2009

Are you trying to learn how to a play a guitar without success? Well, you are not the only one. Nowadays, a lot of people are looking to learn how to play a guitar and are seeking answers online.

There are many guitar websites nowadays where you can learn how to play guitar using video, email and other varieties of online instructions.

There are many options available and it can be confusing to the beginner as to which guitar course is the best. Particularly when you have no knowledge of guitars at all.

Here are some things you might want to consider when choosing an online guitar course.

Most beginners often wondered what type of guitar they should buy when learning. My advise is to get either an electric or acoustic guitar. Do not get a classical guitar unless you are learning classical music. The reason is because classical guitars are more fragile and easily broken if not handled properly. It is not suitable for beginners.

One way to determine whether any guitar course is suitable for you is to ask on a guitar forum. Guitar forums provides an abundant of information regardless of whether you are new to playing guitar or you are an experienced guitarist. It’s particularly useful when you need to seek advice on particular chords you just could not play right.

I would also recommend you get a guitar course that is conducted via video as I find it is easier to learn how to play a guitar by watching how someone does it rather than reading a book. These days with broadband connections, guitar video instructions can easily be downloaded or stream over the internet so it should not be too difficult. That way, you can learn at the comfort of your own home and at your own pace.

The last advice is to practice constantly. There is a learning curve especially at the start when learning how to play a guitar. Devote at least 20 minutes each day to practice and with some persistence, you should see your efforts pay off.

Piano Lesson: Six Tips On How To Create And Keep Your Motivation

Friday, July 31st, 2009

How can you create and keep your motivation to play the piano? In other words, how can you increase and keep the joy of playing the piano? The cause that made you start playing in the first place!

1. Before setting goals

Sometimes the reason why we don’t keep our piano playing goals is that we haven’t been honest with ourselves when we set the goals. Before setting the your goals you have to decide why you want to play piano. Make an honest survey of your assets and wishes in the area of piano playing.

2. Setting goals

In order to set goals that you will actually work towards you have to be honest with yourself. Do I really want to accomplish these goals. Will I really feel good when I reach my goals?

3. Having a repertoire

One common reason for starting to play the piano is to be able to play the pieces of music you like. This means that as you learn to play piano, a goal might be to learn a number of piano pieces, let’s say five melodies, by heart so you can play them in any setting.

These five pieces of piano music is to be learned so well that you don’t have to worry if you are asked to play.

One reason for having a repertoire with piano pieces throughoutly rehearsed is that you can feel that you perform at the top of your ability.

4. Always perform

One great way to create motivation to practice on your piano is to always perform in front of other people in different ways. A way to creating momentum to practise your piano repertoire is to set up an informal concert with a couple of pieces in the setting of your own home.

Your family will be your public. There are many occasions for having someone performing music in the home and maybe you will stimulate others in your family or among your friends to play on their instruments in such a setting. Of course you have to plan ahead in order to suggest a performance and in order to prepare yourself.

5. But if you don’t like to perform?

You can actually practice the art of performing on your piano without people present. One way is to use your imagination and pretend that you perform in front of others. If you want to help your imagination a bit you can put empty chairs in front of you representing the audience.

On such an occasion you have to exercise self discipline and play those pieces in your actual program from beginning to end. If you would make a mistake in front of a public, what would you do? Probably you would want to minimize the effect of this mistake and just play on. This is what you have to practice even in this setting.

This will create self confidence in your ability to handle mistakes and will also help you find weaknesses you can improve upon in your playing.

This is also an excellent time to record your performance for later evaluation. The act of recording is like having a critic in the public.

6. Listen to piano music

You have to look upwards in order to climb to a higher level in your piano playing and this will be accomplished by listening to piano players on an higher artistic level than yourself.

At last a piano playing qoute from an unknown author:

“One man gets nothing but discord out of a piano another gets harmony. No one claims the piano is at fault. Life is about the same. The discord is there, and the harmony is there. Study to play it correctly, and it will give forth the beauty; play it falsely, and it will give forth the ugliness. Life is not at fault.”

History Of African Art

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

African art is the creation of the people in the South of the Sahara. Art is an integral part of the everyday life of Africans. It is used for dialogue, personal therapy and to communicate with the gods and ancestors. The history of African art is very rich, with an enormous collection of art forms. African art originated way back in 500 B.C., in a village of Nigeria. The African sculpture was first unearthed along with exclusive pottery in the village. The ancient African art forms are mainly masks and figures, used in religious ceremonies. The material used for most of these African Art forms was wood. The wood was decorated with clay, shells, ivory, beads, metal and feathers.

Western and Central Africa are considered the richest regions in indigenous art. They are known for different styles of art forms of the African culture. The western Sudan and Guinea coast is famous for its abstract wood- carvings.

Nigeria is well known for the terracotta statuettes found in the Nok culture era of the 5th century B.C. These statuettes are mainly human figures made in terracotta. The history of African art is a contribution by the various tribes, which presented the art different forms and styles. These tribes are known even today for their contribution. The small tribes of the Cameroon grasslands are popular for their bold and expressive woodcarvings that include large house posts, masks and objects used in rituals. All African cultures use decorative textiles and tools.

The history of African art has had a huge influence on western artists. They recognized the intrinsic and aesthetic value of African sculpture. The enduring qualities of African art came to light in the 20th century and since then, it has been a source of inspiration for many western artists.

Bridal Shower Games to Break the Ice

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

Those throwing a Bridal Shower will certainly be concerned that guests who are strangers will be so uncomfortable that the party doesn’t go well, however these concerns can be addressed with Bridal Shower games to break the ice at a gathering.

A fun bridal shower game that will certainly require a willing bride and groom is the ‘Honeymoon Dress up’ game. Have the guests each bring and odd or unusual piece of clothing to the party and when its time to play the game blindfold the bride and groom. Tell them that you and the other guests brought some clothing for their wedding night that they’d like them to try on. Hand them the pieces of clothing that each of the guests brought and let them figure out how to put the clothing on (over their normal clothing of course) using only their sense of touch. Meanwhile all the guests will be laughing at the hilarity of the bride and grooms antics. At the end take off their blindfolds and let them see each other in their ‘seductive’ honeymoon evening wear.

You can put together a simple version of the ‘The Newly Wed Game’ to play at the party. This will give everyone an idea of how well the bride and groom really know each other. Before the party starts or during take each partner aside and ask them a set of questions about themselves. Then get everyone together with the couple and begin asking the opposite partners questions. Inevitably something funny will pop out of the bride or groom’s mouth in answer to a simple but misleading question.

To help the guests really get acquainted with each other you can set up a mini matching service during the party. As guests (even the couples!) arrive have them fill out forms with basic questions about their likes and dislikes then after everyone has arrived go through the forms and match up people with similar tastes. Announce your results to the party and symbolically tie together those with similar tastes using a piece of yarn or ribbon. You can tie them together at the wrists or legs. They then have to spend the rest of the party that way and thus get to know each other. If you’d like you can have a length of ribbon between the matched up guests so that they don’t have to coordinate their movements too much in order to get around.

Why It’s So Important to Make Legitimate RuneScape Money

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

You can have all the RuneScape money you will ever need easily and there are only two very basic things you have to do to get it. The first thing is to do a little bit of work and the second is to know the best strategies to make legitimate RuneScape money.

Honestly, no one really wants to do the work for you so if you really want to make lots of RuneScape money and become a millionaire, then you need to put in a little time & effort to get good at the game. However, to create an elite level 85 RuneScape character and make massive RuneScape money in less than a week, you’ll need to follow top secret strategies that only top notch pro players know about.

However, I tell you one sure way to totally destroy your game, your reputation, and people’s respect for you and that it is to beg for items or gold. The desperate act of begging tells other RuneScape players three things.

1. You don’t respect yourself enough to make your own RuneScape money.
2. You don’t respect the people you beg for RuneScape Money.
3. You want to take advantage of their hard work to make the RuneScape Money in the first place.

That’s why you must never, ever beg for RuneScape money. Believe me, it’s a lot easier to make RuneScape money the legitimate way than it is to resort to begging (or scamming, which is even worse). In a desperate moment asking for RuneScape money may seem like the easy thing to do but an hour later you’ll probably end up losing your RuneScape money and most importantly your self respect. Seriously, in that same hour you could have easily made 50K in RuneScape money employing the right tactics.

Sure, there are people who will give away things for free to low-levels. As a matter of fact, I have a friend that once gave away a whole set of rune to random passer bys and I’ve even given away party hats to total strangers (I’m an old player). The important thing to know is that RuneScape gamers usually only give away stuff to people that aren’t begging for it in the first place! It’s funny but true… so if another RuneScape player surprises you with a freebie, be thankful for the gift but move on and definitely don’t try to make a RuneScape living that way.

I have nothing to say about scamming except that it totally sucks. If you’re willing to stoop to the lowest level of dishonesty to get your money by scamming or hacking (especially when there’s a far easier and more honest way), then there’s nothing anyone can do to help you.

Have you ever seen a pro player beg for RuneScape money? Have you ever seen a level 80 beg because “they lost all their RuneScape money in the wildy?” Have you ever heard of a top notch player that doesn’t have time to make RuneScape money or to train stats? No… so if you want to preserve your pride and learn to play RuneScape at an elite level always follow the simple rules I just told you about.

NBA Fullcourt Report - Wed. Dec. 20

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

It is a busy night in NBA on Wednesday with thirteen games on the board and injuries continue to play a major role. Below is a look at five games this evening in which key players might not be available for their teams.

NEW ORLEANS at ORLANDO (-7½, 177½)

The Hornets 8-3 SU start to the season is a distant memory compared to their 2-10 SU mark since November 22nd. The fall coincided with numerous injuries and the Hornets are still without three of their top five scorers as Peja Stojakovic (17.8 ppg), David West (17.4 ppg), and Bobby Jackson (10.9 ppg) remain on the injured list.

Orlando started the season 13-4 SU, but they have gone just 3-6 SU over their past nine games and are also battling key injuries. Jameer Nelson is questionable tonight due to a groin injury and has missed the past three games, while Hidayet Turkoglu is out for another two weeks due to an ankle injury.

Nelson leads the team in assists (4.0 apg) and is third in scoring (12.8 ppg), while Turkoglu is fifth on the team in scoring (9.8 ppg) and averaged 28.8 minutes per game.

GOLDEN STATE at BOSTON (-2, 219)

The Celtics are playing their best basketball of the season and enter tonight’s game on a perfect 5-0 SU/ATS run. The team’s second leading scorer, Wally Szczerbiak returned from his five-game absence on December 13th, but only lasted three games as he sprained his ankle in Saturday’s 106-100 win versus Charlotte. Szczerbiak is out indefinitely and averages 19.1 points per game.

Golden State enters off back-to-back road losses, including a 105-97 setback at New Jersey on Monday. The Warriors have regained the services of Jason Richardson who returned on Monday from his eight-game absence. Richardson is third on the team in scoring (14.3 ppg) and tied for third in assists (3.1 apg).

CHARLOTTE at NEW YORK (-3½, 192)

The Knicks continue to play short-handed due to suspensions and injuries. Nate Robertson, Jared Jeffries, and Mardy Collins are suspended again tonight due to their involvement in last Saturday’s brawl versus Denver. Jeffries and Collins have barely played this season, but Robertson has averaged 20 minutes per game and 9.6 points.

The Knicks biggest concern is the status of Steve Francis who has missed the past six games due to a knee injury. Francis is out for another two weeks and is second on the team in assists (4.5 apg) and fourth on the team in scoring (11.0 ppg).

Charlotte is also missing a point guard as Brevin Knight is out tonight due to a groin injury he suffered last Thursday versus Orlando. Knight leads the team in assists (7.2 apg) and is fifth in scoring (12.2 ppg).

HOUSTON at PORTLAND (no line)

There is no overnight line in this game due to injury concerns for both squads. Houston’s Tracy McGrady is doubtful after missing the past four games due to back spasms, while Portland’s Zach Randolph is experiencing foot pain and might miss tonight’s game.

The Rockets are 1-3 SU (2-2 ATS) this season without McGrady who leads the team in assists (6.3 apg) and is second in scoring (19.2 ppg). The Trailblazers have only played one game without Randolph this season and won outright at Toronto 93-83 on December 10th as a 7½-point underdog. Randolph leads the team in scoring (25.4 ppg) and rebounding (10.1 rpg).

TORONTO at L.A. CLIPPERS (-8, 193)

The Raptors have surprisingly gone 3-1 SU/ATS during their past four games, even without their best player, Chris Bosh, who remains out with a knee injury. Bosh leads the team in scoring (20.5 ppg), rebounding (12.2 rpg), and blocks (1.1 bpg) this season. Despite Toronto’s 115-98 loss at Phoenix last night, the Raptors are still a solid 23-5 ATS as an underdog of 8 points or more since early last season, including 6-3 ATS this year.

The Raptors recent success has coincided with the emergence of rookie #1 draft pick Andrea Bargnani who has scored at least 18 points or more in three of the past four games. Jorge Garbajosa is also playing well and had scored double-figures in five of his previous six games before suffering a calf injury in the first half last night versus Phoenix.

The Clippers are also battling injuries as point guard Sam Cassell has missed two of the past three games with ankle and foot injuries and is questionable tonight. Cassell is second on the team in scoring (14.4 ppg) and assists (5.0 apg).

Interview with: The Monkey Man of Lima [Don Cipriano]

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009

[Interviewed Don Cipriano, by: Dennis Siluk 4/17/2006] He’s a little old man, perhaps five foot two inches tall, 100-pounds, more or less been in the Monkey Man business for 56-years. But no one really knows how he got started, until now. He was twenty-years old, working in Lima’s parks as a Gardner. The year was 1950 when he’d change professions, at which time there were many men in this business, the Monkey Man business that is: they all had a monkey or two, and a three foot box to keep the monkey in, and a music box made especially for this box, nailed on top of the upper box for this profession: thus, it was, a kind of stage for the monkey to dance on, while the master of the monkey would wind up the music sheets inside to box, and people danced (those were the days he said); the man who used to bring back the music strings for him, has not returned in twenty years, so it is a dull few notes that comes out of his old Monkey-music box—not loud at all (and so the dancing has stopped): the box is: red and blue, made out of wood. There is a background for the stage attached to the upper part of the box, the monkey jumps around on: it looks like a jungle scene, a real painting I believe.

How he got into the business was when he stopped working for the park, and an old man of about 80-years old, gave him his first monkey, perhaps his first real break: named Martina, and with that monkey he borrowed another man’s music-stage (or box), and made some money.

It was a little before 1970, when he purchased his own stage and music box, that he now carries on his back across the busy street down in Miraflores Park, in Lima, Peru, each day, every day of the week, as the sun goes down. He paid $50.00 for the box, and has been offered up to $2500, for the box. “People,” he says, “want to buy the box, put it in their homes for decorations; all my friends sold theirs, and now I’m the only one with one around…and with a job…” he says it came from Italy, and there is no place anymore to get another. He adds, “There used to be six or seven of us in each of the parks,” but of course that was then, and now, it is just Mr. Cipriano, the last of his breed.

I have, my wife and I that is, talked to Mr. Cipriano for the past six years, and perhaps that’s why he talked to me about his fifty-six years in this business. He says the box is only worth $300, but it is his livelihood. He adds in so many words: money comes and goes to sell the box would put me out of business like my comrades.

He is a small man, about five foot two inches tall, perchance, 100-pounds, as I first mentioned in the beginning of this article, seventy-six years old, wears a white cowboy hat, blue pants usually, white shirt, some white whiskers show up when he does not shave, and loves his monkeys. His second monkey, Rosita, has retired; she is perhaps 40-years old, and stays with him and his wife in Lima. The monkey that works with him daily is called Martina, about 12-years old, a lively female monkey.

In the past, his monkeys have been on soap operas, and once in a New York City newspaper, he is quite proud of that. And I even used him for a book I wrote a while ago called: “The Mumbler,” I used him for a backdrop within the story, and gave Mr. Cipriano a copy of the book, he and his son liked it. Chusty, a well-known painter of Miraflores, and a friend of mine, did the water painting of the Monkey Man for the front cover of the book.

He is a modest man, and seemingly happy with his lot in life. Should Mr. Cipriano go on and meet the Lord, and I do not wish this, who is left to entertain all those young and old folks in Miraflores park, I hate to say: no one of his capacity, he remains the only one in his trade, if indeed it can be called a trade, it would seem to me it is a vocation one needs to put heart and soul into, and live it from day to day.

I do not know if it pays well, but he raised a family on it, and put his kids through school, and I suppose as long as his back holds up, he’ll carry that heavy stage and music box across that busy street, and grind away on that handle, and have his monkey go into the drawer and pick out a note for each person willing to spend a sol (.33 cents), to get their good fortune.

Dance Videos are Educational, Fun, and Great Exercise

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009

The world seems to be divided into dancers and non-dancers. To the chagrin of women everywhere, men often simply declare that they don′t dance. These guys don′t understand that men who do dance have a secret weapon in their dating arsenal. Let’s face it: women are enamored with men who enjoy dancing.

Aside from the gender divide, there are people who seem to have a natural sense of rhythm and people who don’t. We’ve all witnessed people on the dance floor who can’t seem to keep time with the music, or who cause us to look away when they begin their “signature move.” Shudder.

There are any number of reasons why people can’t or don’t dance. Many times, they’re just not used to expressing themselves through movement. They may be disconnected with their bodies, and have never experienced the joy and satisfaction of feeling the beat and moving to its rhythm. They might be self-conscious and want to avoid drawing attention to themselves because they fear being ridiculed. Or perhaps they simply don’t know how to dance.

Learn to Dance without Fear

For those who can’t or don’t dance, dance videos can open up a wonderful new universe of self-expression - without the fear. For example, a person can buy a dance DVD and learn to dance in the comfort of his or her own home, away from prying eyes. A couple can practice together in the living room, either in conjunction with lessons or instead of lessons. Over time, non-dancers will realize that dancing is nothing to be feared the only objective is to enjoy themselves.

There are an amazing number of dance videos available on the market today. Whether you’re looking for a hip hop dance video, a ballet video, a line dance video, or a ballroom dance DVD, you’ll find a variety of dance videos to suit your taste.

Expand Your Horizons

For those who already love to dance, dance videos can serve as an introduction to a greater variety of dances. For example, maybe you’ve always harbored a secret desire to learn clogging, or want to express your sensuality through belly dancing. Perhaps you want to feel the Latin heat, and are ready to learn flamenco or salsa. Or you may want to go retro and learn to swing dance or to do the Lindy hop.

If you love dancing, you′ll find that dance videos open up a whole new universe of delight. You don′t have to wait for a class, or if you′re in a class, dance videos can help you practice between classes.

Dancing is Great Exercise

If you want to get into or stay in shape, dancing can provide cardio benefits, as well as improve your balance and increase your stamina. Who wants to log in time on a treadmill when you can move your body to the beat? Learning to hula dance will provide a workout to muscles you never knew you had, while hip hop will get your heart rate up. In addition to dance videos, you can also find videos and DVDs that use dance as a mechanism to achieve fitness. For example, there are dance videos that use Motown moves or rock tunes as part of a specific fitness routine.

Whatever your relationship to dance, there’s no doubt that dance videos can kick it up a notch. Just remember that dance is all about expressing yourself through movement and that the bottom line is to enjoy yourself.
