Here to Stay - Cyber Casinos and Their Benefits

Monday, October 29th, 2007

The obvious advantages of gambling in a cyber casino are certainly the most decisive factors for most people gambling on the Internet. As opposed to gambling in a land based casino, one doesn′t need the formality and etiquette requirements, specifically required in the larger, more expensive and more popular land based casinos.

The sheer beauty and size of some of the best land based casinos can leave one feeling intimidated if one is not prepared both in cash flow and in dress code preparations. Unless you have the money or the might, you ain’t going nowhere baby.

In an online casino, one can observe and play the games in virtual reality with no-one being able to detect what you really look like, which are the same principles that apply for such on-line multi-player games such as City of Heroes (CoH) and World of Warcraft (for the non-gamblers, and almost all ages). Your code of dress is irrelevant since no one can see you even in your most private attire. Comfort is the keyword here and you play from the most comfortable place in the world for you which is generally your home base.

In most cyber casinos, you can also practice playing for free; what land-based casino in the world would allow you to do this anyway. This is extremely helpful since it gives the inexperienced player a chance to practice and play for free so that they could better prepare themselves for a real land-based casino or for playing for real at the internet casinos. It is also an opportunity to practice your game strategies since these are very important when gambling and playing for real money. Some play-for-free casinos require the player to download software and some offer the option of playing on Instant Online Play software such as JAVA.

Online casinos come in a large variety of gaming software platform options with download and Flash or Instant Play casinos being the most popular, and other platforms such as Java and HTML being specifically sought after by other players and those who do not like downloads. Slots game versions are unbeaten in internet casinos as is not the case with a land casino. Every year, more and more varieties of slot games and video poker games are added to the inventory of these web casino properties.

Some web casinos offer special bonuses for the month or for any particular day of the week in order to retain more customer loyalty. Other on line casinos will also offer cash back rewards for losses made whilst gambling or for your money spent. The list of car, travel, merchandise and boat sweepstakes and prizes are also enough to keep you loyal to playing online. These are even more reasons why cyber casinos are here to stay. Cash Back bonuses (known in on line sports betting and off shore gambling destinations as ‘re-load’ bonuses) are given as a percentage of your losses; the most popular being around the 10% line of gambling losses.

So if you are considering trying out playing at a web casino, the amount of free play, bonuses, free money, prizes and cash back rewards that you will receive are alone good reasons for trying your hand at gambling online.

Morning in the Village [Easter Island 2/2003]

Monday, October 29th, 2007

Advance: I am not asking anyone to believe in ghosts, goblins or spirits, but I will tell you, I believe in them—the spirits that is, and in the ghosts, or ghouls; not so much the goblins though. When I first arrived on Easter Island, it was bad weather, it was night, and nothing went right. They knew I was coming (the spirits; and I knew they knew). And they were restless. In my small motel room, a banshee was knocking on my door, screaming and hollering to get in (it scared my wife, as the lamp busted, and the phone went dead). Shortly after that, the water was shut off, and the electricity went off. I talked to the owner, and she had to put my wife and me in another room, but it continued. Again the owner said, it was never quite like this before—but I knew what it was, call it second sight, or whatever, the old spirits indwelling in the stone status do not like folks that may cause them a disturbance; or think they may, this was not the first nor the last experience I had in this forbidden area. For some reason, they like things left at a laze fare statues; especially if they are the category. A dreary night it was, and thus, I made my peace with them, and the spirits, scrupulously, and carefully made their peace with me, and life went on, in both worlds; and from my notes, here is the morning after…:

Morning in the Village
[Easter Island]

The gray light of dawn crept in,

Over and upon the village—!
Somewhere in the village, I heard

The cock crow!…
From the east, the coming of day

Was emerging, slowly—
Night had passed….

My face felt a red bolt of dawn

From the sea—had leaped upon it.
In my dreams, I had absorbed:

All that had been—,
And all that was to be.

What Is Music?

Sunday, October 28th, 2007

Music is the art of arranging sounds in time, so as to produce a continuous, unified, and evocative (expressive) composition, as through melody, harmony, rhythm, and timbre (tonal quality of any sound). With this perception, one must understand that this definition stands to be the point of view of one individual, or a small group of people. You’re probably saying, “Well, I just learned something. I did not know that you could put what I felt into words that intelligently. Wow!” Another may say, “I already knew that, but what does that really have to do with what I feel inside.” Yes, I would agree with that. The definition may be good enough to teach to class of youngsters in middle school, but music actually has an unlimited source of meanings. I say this because yes, we rap, sing, and play instruments, projecting a particular sound that brings some relief inside. But yet, even after we have performed, via shower or on stage, there is still a hunger inside that we are compelled to satisfy. So, what is this thing we call music really all about?

What is Music to you?

Here is a question which requires an answer: What is music to you? Matter of fact, before you even read a second further, I am going to pause for about thirty seconds to let you ponder on this question. The time is starting now. Again, I say what is music to you? Is it a LOVE or a LUST? Is it a relationship, or a one night stand? Is it total satisfaction, meaning does it go further than just a feeling, or it is just like a nut (ejaculation)? After all the build up, did the results not quite match your expectations, or did it just did not last long enough? What is it to you? When it comes to your relationship with music, are you able to offer your musical expression without expecting anything in return, or are you so emotionally driven that you are willing to say and do anything to get .25 of a second of popular time?

When you have a love for something, such as music, you are willing to sacrifice your life for that which you endear. With this type of love comes pain, comfortless days and nights, disappointment, joy, satisfaction. There are times when you get no respect, and it appears that everyone is getting air time but you. You suffer through days, weeks, and months of low income, working to take care of yourself, and sometimes your family. These conditions limit the time you allot yourself to follow your dream, and prompts you to ask yourself, “Why me?” Why not you? This type of sentiment brings limited satisfaction and compromise that wants to come alive within in you that can cause you to reach a breaking point.

One thing I have come to understand is that everything has a breaking point. This point limits the length of time that brought about the discomfort and pain. Eventually, the struggle comes to an end, and the emergence of comfort and release unfolds. Take for example, a woman with child. A child is in the womb for 9-10 months. During this process, the woman endures a lot of painful days while on the other hand, some days are not so bad. In time, the period of distress ends, and the child comes forth. Up until that moment, the child has completed its maturity cycle as a fetus, and the process of life is brought forth. Just as this process of growth and release, there is a hunger for music that has no words to explain it. We have been deprived of music that brings a lasting connection. In an essence, the world is starving in desperation for someone to know who they are. Along with this desperation the starving artists of the world want to gain the confidence of a sound that’s relevant. So where do we go from here?

Where is Music At?

I will give acknowledgment where it due, and the simple fact that you are reading this passage, leads me to the conclusion that you love what you do. Give yourselves a hand or a pat on the back, or whatever you like to do to motivate yourself! But let me ask you a question: Does your music have the potential to leave a legacy? If so, will your musical legacy have enough character to influence future generations to come in a productive manner? Currently, music is at a standstill. The music industry is in a confused state. Simply put, it does not know what the hell it wants to do. On flip side, there is an open door. Opportunity is all around you. Seize the moment!

Where is Music Going?

The question presented clearly depends upon you, the artist. So where is music going? What will be your influence? The world has had enough! There must be a foundation before you go any further. There must be some sort of direction, goals, or balance in your life. There must be accountability within yourself understanding that what you say creates a world or interpretation for someone. There must be an understanding that it’s more than just you. It’s your kids, their kids, and their kids’ kids that will be affected base on what you say. Life is in your hands, and mouth, so use them accordingly.

In order to Hustle hard, which basically means to aggressively go forth with the determination, stopping at nothing to accomplish a goal, you must have a foundation of values and direction. Remember there is a melody within us that is hungering to develop outside.
Melody

A melody to my ear
A melody when spoken
Had no fear
The soothing sound of a melody
That as it touch my soul
Dared a tear
A melody that had no limit
A melody that had no boundary
A melody that was so close
Even though the direction
In which it came was not clear
A melody
A freedom of a song

Thank you for your ear
One Love

In Daddy’s Shoes

Sunday, October 28th, 2007

In my dreams I hold his hand. He guides me through my shifting sand.
With every step I watch him walk. With every word I hear him talk.
Deep within his voice I hear. “I am with you, do not fear.”
“Hold to me your darken thought.”
“Discard your burdens that you brought.”

He gives me peace in which to rest. He builds me up; constructs my self.
He always seeks my very best. His time with me is priceless wealth.
What greater one; or greater task. He gives himself when others ask.
As him I seek his wants and do’s. I wish to wear my daddy’s shoes.

I know they seem as leather bound.
Much more it’s where a hero roams.
To where they go brings hollow ground.

His steps bring safe, consistent tones.
Teaching me; with patient care.
At night in bed he strokes my hair.
A promise said; a promise kept.
With every hug, my heart is swept.

At times a spank or rigid word,
but after love is surely heard.
He works hard; at times he plays;
and when I need, he surely stays!
When scared I count and shout for him.
He calms my fears; he wipes my tears.

“Look at me” I call to him!
When he is near, I work to win!
Encouragement, I surely long!
His words forever make me strong.
Someday I’ll grow to find my way.
For now with him I want to stay!

No matter what I do or choose.
I’ll always seek my daddy’s shoes!

Sipan (of: Lambayeque) A Poem

Saturday, October 27th, 2007

Sipan, king of the desert,

and its sea of sand—;
Lord of the valley,

farthest bound:
behold the crimson sun,

above, shines down upon
your tomb.
By some new sorrow
in the wind’s tone
(expectant and alone),

I feel your pulse:
fresh from Your sea of sleep…,
from the Lambayeque Valley:
Your spirit weeps!…

#1485 9-27-2006

Note: Sipan, King or Lord, of Northern Peru (around: Chiclayo), in the Sipan Valley, or—also known as Lambayeque, lived around 200 to 300 AD and ruled the valley for about 40-years. His tomb along with others were discovered in the late 80s; in 2006, I visited the site in March, it was most interesting, along with climbing the pyramids nearby. The spirits there are annoyed with the fact, that the tomb of the king, considered the richest archeological find of the 20th Century, has been dishonored (for all the original relics have been replaced with replicas (so they told me).

In Sipan, 13-individuals were excavated (1987), equal to the find in Egypt, of King Tut’s tomb. There are two pyramids in the compound area, and perhaps 15,000-individuals lived there. The region is perhaps 6500-Square Kilometers.

On February 25, 1987, the site of Sipan (and its tombs) was being extensively pillaged by grave-robbers, who had stripped pieces of gold from one tomb in particular. Local people had taken control of the monument, and in the grasp of a kind of gold-fever, were trying to break into other tombs in search of more precious metals.

This was the biggest archaeological find in Latin America in recent decades—.

The Lord of Sipan was a warrior priest (a Moche descendent) who died around 250 AD. In his tomb were found 1200 pieces of gold and precious stones… (how much was robbed or taken, no one really knows)

Nelson Rangell “Look Again” Smooth Jazz Music CD Review

Saturday, October 27th, 2007

Very talented Smooth Jazz artist Nelson Rangell has released his latest CD titled Look Again and Wow! It’s good.

The CD launches with an outstanding track, Look Again, that I suspect will be heard on radio stations everywhere, and deservedly so. It really is a very nice track.

Look Again has a pleasantly varied, mix of 11 tracks that are very well written songs by this clearly superb artist. Most of the songs display a lot of the kind emotion that makes for a really great listen. Seemingly drawing from what I can only imagine are his own real life experiences. At different points touching on the most real emotions of love, and the pain of failed relationships can certainly be heard.

Overall Look Again is a solid release. Quite possibly Nelson Rangell’s best to date. Really spectacular from beginning to end. If you’re even mildly into Smooth Jazz music you’ll enjoy this album.

My SmoothLee Bonus Pick, and the one that got Sore [...as in "Stuck On REpeat"] is track 6, Long Walk. Great track!

Tom McGrath Painting’s - The Saacthi-Gallery

Saturday, October 27th, 2007

This untitled painting is among the earliest of the artist’s recent series of driving landscapes. Loosely based on collaged montages of multiple photographic images, they examine the way in which we experience the contemporary landscape. The painting’s canvas surface becomes a car’s windscreen, the view through which is distorted and warped by rain in the form of mottled, stained, sprayed, and scraped oil paint. This particular painting, which portrays a suburban car park, is the only one of the works to incorporate even a peripheral depiction of human figures. As such it serves to underline their irrelevance to McGrath’s practice, in which the viewer himself becomes the figure, occupying the vantage point of a car.

A car port – a particular sort of multi-level, trellised garage found in the southern United States – quivers like a mirage in the evening sky. Illuminated by a dramatic, celestial cloudbreak like a ship on the sea, the manmade structure anchors the composition and offsets the symmetry of the picture. The legibility of the its features, both natural and man-made, are disrupted through a series of carefully crafted optical ambiguities and collapsed perspectives. The artist seems to be posing a question: can today’s landscape, an increasingly threatened space consumed by urban sprawl, still provide a romantic, transcendental experience?

Tom McGrath Painting from the democratic, almost childlike vantage point of a car passenger seat, the artist uses cool, neutral tones of beige, grey and brown to create an atmosphere of detached melancholy. Tom McGrath’s driving landscapes are an investigation not so much of the landscape itself, but rather of our movement through it - and the effect that that movement can have on our environment, both perceptually and culturally. The road, a motif central to a great deal of American music, literature and art, is here employed as a psychological map of the passengers inside, as a metaphor of their running to or from something, or indeed of their not knowing where to go.

Five Quick Tips for Winning More at Baccarat

Saturday, October 27th, 2007

The word “baccarat,” pronounced bah-caw-rah, comes from the Italian word for zero. This is a reference to the zero value given to both tens and face cards in this game. Although originally only popular in European casinos, where it was first introduced in 15th century France, baccarat has become popular in casinos across the globe and Internet.

When originally brought to America, casinos presented the game with an air of glamour and exclusivity; it was once played in a roped-off section of the casino, and it was under the direct supervision by a pit boss and even armed guards.

Because of the regal atmosphere surrounding this game, it often attracts high rollers and casino regulars. Despite all of the glamour, however, baccarat is a very uncomplicated game and requires little to no skill on the part of the player. It is therefore the perfect game for a gambler who doesn’t wish to put in the time required to master the more complicated casino games.

Baccarat is played with six or eight complete decks of cards. All cards from the ace through nine are valued according to their number. Both face cards and tens have a value of zero. When any combination of two cards is equal to more than ten, ten is subtracted and the remaining total is the card count. For example, if four and eight are drawn for a sum of 12, the count is two (ten from 12).

Up to 14 players, or “punters” may sit around a baccarat table at any one time, and three dealers work each table. The croupier or dealer in the middle is the caller. He or she directs the punters throughout the game and makes the calls on each hand. The other two dealers are responsible for payouts.

Now that you know the basics, here are five tips that will help you improve your game:

1. Never bet on a potential tie, or a “standoff” in baccarat phraseology. This is not a good bet for the punter because the house edge is over 14 percent.

2. Betting on the banker offers the punter the best odds of victory. As your chances for winning a banker bet are 44.6 percent, this is the best bet a punter can make.

3. When making a banker bets, be sure that you have enough money to leave the table. Casinos will take a five percent commission on winnings from banker bets, and this is collected right before a punter leaves the table. Be sure to keep track of your money, as there is nothing more embarrassing than not having enough money left to pay the five percent owed to the table.

4. Baccarat is a game of chance. Counting cards or developing methods to predict future hands are not effective in this game.

5. As baccarat is a game of chance not skill, always quit while you are ahead. Rely on your short-run luck for this game!
