YOUR Advantage With Online Poker Table Notes

Monday, October 31st, 2005

The importance of taking notes on your opponents can’t be stressed enough. The more you play, the more you value the information that you have collected on each player at your table. It is quite an advantage to know that player “A” likes to bluff a lot and that player “B” only plays if he has a big pair

Taking notes on the other players at your table, online, is very easy. On some sites, they even put a marker on the player if you have written a note on him before.

When you start taking notes just watch the opponents that stand out, like the over aggressive player that raises every betting round and ends up throwing his hand away at the river.

It’s best if you start developing some sort of code system to classify each player. This can be a set of numbers, a group of letters, or anything that will remind you of the way he plays.

Learn to classify players. This will help you in remembering their play the next time you run up against them. Think of them in terms of tight or loose and passive or aggressive. I like to assign numbers for tight or loose and letters for passive or aggressive. For example a very loose passive player might be coded as “8” for his loose play and “A” for his passive play.

Remember when you are watching the other players to keep an eye out for the very tight ones. These players are either too tight and passive or they are just tight, and aggressive when they have good cards. It is very easy to over look them as they are not in many hands. And the tight aggressive player is the most dangerous at the table.

Look for special betting traits that you see.
Does this player always bet on the button if it hasn’t been bet before his turn?
Does this player like to raise from early position with high cards?
Does this player slow play high pairs and sets?
The list can go on, but you get the idea.

Write all this information in your notes, it will give you a tremendous advantage as time goes on.

When you run into a player that you have a note on, review the note. Watch him for a while to see that he still plays the way your note says he does. Many times a player will improve his play with time and you should recognize this and adjust your notes.

In the end it just comes down to having more information about other players at your table. How you use that knowledge is still the most important thing.

Good Luck

Building a Guitar - Part Two (The machine heads)

Monday, October 31st, 2005

Having owned and played guitars for over twenty five years I have owned lots and lots of different makes and models of guitars, some good, some awful but the acoustic slide weissenborn still fascinates me quite beyond comparison. Why is that? Well, the sound is really quite like nothing at all, nothing compares. These guitars stand up, make a statement, “Here I am, I’m different, play me if you can, I’m a sonofabitch to learn but if you can get your head round this, then I will sing for you and make you days happy!”

Think I’m joking? go and try one, you will see what I mean…then after you have made a goose of yourself in the music shop, go down the road and buy a Jeff Lang cd or Bob Brozman album and just check those dudes out!!! Humbling or what?

I must say I had my eyes on some really top level guitars over the years and I reasoned “Well, there is only a pound or two of timber in there, surely?”How come they are three grand? Well, it is the knowledge that hundreds of Luthiers have passed down over the years that gives these things the tags they have isn’t that right? However, I did read a book on inlaying and in there was a bit about how extensively that the millionth Martin was inlaid…Wait a minute. a MILLION Martins? Inlaid with a computer?? Whoa, that’s not exactly painstakingly hand crafted is it..that’s mass production more like…so how come they are still three grand a piece??? Surely mass production makes things a lot cheaper, dont it?

Is it me or is there something not quite right here? Well, dont get me wrong here, most modern guitars are factory made and to be honest there cannot be much difference in the technique for making these guitars in the factory, can there? Ok that leaves only a couple of things, the material quality, better fret wire, better machine heads, better timber..aha, the timber. But surely that cant make it a couple or three grand difference between a production Ashton or a series seven Taylor? Ok so the cheaper ones use ply, we know that!!

Ok, the name maybe..could be a big part of it? When I decided to build my Weissenborn, I decided to get some really good quality timber, Australian Maple, but boys and girls, it wasn’t a grand.. I wont say how much, but it was even cut to size and thickness for me! Labour, makes up a lot in the price, of course, for a hand made non- factory guitar, and it makes a huge difference to the cost these days. So what if your time is free?

Well, we could argue for hours about all the differing factors, but in the end in fact, it really does pay to make an effort and build your own guitar. I started off with a weissenborn because quite honestly, the fretboard spacings are nowhere near as critical as a normal fingered acoustic guitar…so its a good one to start with!

I did discover something when I had finished my guitar that when I put my GOTOH machine heads onto the guitar it is really critical to have them tightened up as much as is practical. They are not the best machine heads but are acceptable for the job. After all, the machine head post really is one of the only things that transmit those vibrations down the headstock of the guitar. I actually didnt realise it but I allowed the machine head nuts to loosen without realising it. Naturally, they need to bed in to the timber and once it is squashed down somewhat, the machine heads inevitably loosen up. I had begun to wonder why the guitar sound and brightness had ‘gone off’ I mistakenly thought it was the strings getting a bit older but when I tightened up the machine head nuts the guitar sprang into life again… it honestly sounded like a different guitar. So, if you do have a guitar that you have played for a while and its ‘gone off’ replace the strings and while you are at it tighten up those machine heads and fixing screws! You may be in for a bit of a shock!

If you want to see and hear my finished guitar go to the site buildaweissenborn.com buildaweissenborn.com and have a look at my baby there!

Free Piano Lesson “Reflections in Water” Shows You How To Improvise!

Monday, October 31st, 2005

If you’re like many who enjoy the piano, you’ve probably been mystified as to how someone can just sit down and play without sheet music.

It seems like an impossible feat. But there’s a method to the mystery. Pianists who can improvise know what they’re doing and understand the fundamentals of improvisation.

Now, if you’re a newbie at this, It can be confusing to say the least! So many keys and so many choices! But you won’t have this problem if you start out using a few chords and a way to play them.

For example take a look at the lesson Reflections in Water. Here we have a lesson that shows you how to create your own unique music using just 4 chords. The chords are from the Key of C Major and have a very “modern″ feel to them.

To play this improvisation is quite easy. The first thing you need to do is familiarize yourself with these chords. Once you get them in your fingers and have committed them to memory - the rest is easy!

We now take these 4 chords and create our improvisation. We use chords, the scale of C Major and the element of time to create with. These are our materials. Much like visual artists who use color and canvas, we musicians use rhythm, harmony, and melody to create with.

We start out with the C Major 7 chord and notice that with this chord structure we get a modern sound right away! No need to start with triads. You can begin your study of piano improvisation with something called the open position chord and get creative quickly.

When you listen to the lesson “Reflections in Water,” notice that the music is quite slow. This is done on purpose. My goal was not to rush and come up with something sophisticated. On the contrary, my goal was to show you how easy it can be to simply finger a chord and create music. Something you can achieve if you put your mind to it!

How To Write Graffiti, Gain Respect & Stay Out Of Trouble!

Monday, October 31st, 2005

First of all, we do not encourage any illegal activity so please ensure you have permission to spray before you start. We suggest practising throw-ups before you try a full piece, just to get used to the spraycan. Don’t go over anyone’s work (throwies may go over tags though); only spray on surfaces that are free and legal to spray.

Make sure the surface is dry; if possible use a roller with white or your background colour to get a good undercoat first. Start with a skinny cap to make the outline first.Don’t make it too prominent e.g. use beige or grey on a white background. This is so mistakes can be easily fixed. You may prefer to use a different colour for each letter or character so they can be distinguished more easily but that’s up to you.

Don’t feel you have to stick to your sketch - it’s just a guide and you should modify as you see fit along the way. Keep stepping back from the piece and checking it’s all in proportion, don’t stay too close all the time.

Keep with the skinny cap for all the outline including 3d effects etc. with the can close to the surface in brisk, sharp strokes of the can. Then start adding the filling in your chosen colours. When doing the filling use the fat cap further away from the surface to fill the space more quickly.

Make sure you cover all the surface without gaps, you will tidy it all up later. When the filling is done go back to the skinny cap and make the piece sharper, go around the letters and characters again where necessary then add some effects such as shading and highlights around the edges of the letters.

These might be a lighter shade of the same colour e.e. add light red highlights such as small chevrons to the edges of red letters. When the letters and characters are all done just add your tag to the piece to let everyone know whose it is and wait for the praise to come flooding in!

Sunday, October 30th, 2005

Nominated for 2 Emmys and 2 Golden Globes, including Best TV Series - Drama, Felicity gathered a large cult following in its short four season stint. Premiering on the WB network in September 1998, the show (along with Dawson’s Creek) helped ignite a firestorm of highly successful original series on behalf of the upstart network, with such hit shows as Angel (1999), Gilmore Girls (2000), and Smallville (2001). The brainchild of writer J.J. Abrams (creator of the two hit series Alias and Lost), Felicity follows the life of a recent high school graduate, not through seasons 1, 2, 3, and 4, but through Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, and Senior years. Similar in genre to its contemporary, Dawson’s Creek, Felicity’s cast is of approximately the same age, but the setting is college instead of high school…

The Felicity (Season 3) DVD features a number of exciting episodes including the season premiere “The Christening″ in which Felicity learns from Javier that a man is giving away his furniture before moving to another state. When she visits his apartment, she falls in love with the place and agrees to rent it so that she and Ben can live there together. Ben, however, is out of town at the time and must live with Felicity’s decision despite his belief that the place is a dump. Meanwhile, Noel has dropped out of school, eloped, and decided to become a full-time party animal… Other notable episodes from Season 3 include “Kissing Mr. Covington” in which Felicity’s attempts to console Ben’s estranged father result in him kissing her, much to her and Ben’s dismay, and “Blackout” in which everyone gathers together to watch Sean’s “Docuventary,” only to have a storm knock out the power, prompting a series of interpersonal conflicts…

Chapter Six
Jawbone and Leopard Man

The mid-noon sun, and the midnight sun came out daily, although it was out for less than a few hours each day, at each occurrence: so it was in this part of the planets position. The warmth of the sun this day seemed to help the twenty or so Jawbone creatures to find and encircle Siren they woke Siren up from a relaxed sleep, now she was at full strength. Like a wild instinctive animal, Siren awoke and jumped up onto her feet to meet her foe she had felt also, the heat from their beastly body’s surrounding her, heavy bodies they were, now standing all around her, examining her like a Ginny pig, yet the creatures seemed more paranoid than hungry for her blood. And they seemed a little different than the ones she had meet a while ago, not as aggressive. Their ears were different also, and the noses, they only had holes for these facial items before this breed had small ears and a small ski-jump for a nose: all in all, the impression she got was they were in no rush to attack her, a higher order or a more peaceful order she concluded of these inhabitants. After penetrating their language system wither her mind, some readjustments for her translations to be, which her mother seemed to help her with, in the back vaults of her mind, for she had put them there for her to use in times like this, thus, with observation, and now able to communicated she found she was indeed taller than these six foot two creatures.

The language they were talking was adaptable to her within minutes, it was not English per se, but she understood them nonetheless, as if it was. She noticed one of the other creatures had followed her, and was staring afar behind a rock, and when noticed took off.

The man called Leopard, the leader spoke, “We are looking at you to see if you are our enemy, or friend!” He commented.

These creatures had furs on, bear furs to be exact, then Leopard Man, handed her his fur cloak, a garment of bear skin and fur. She quickly covered herself. “You are a friend,” he repeated a few times, to ease her nervousness. “We are not like the Jawbone inhabitants,” she noticed his jaw was not as lowered as the man she had fought.

Huge And Shocking ATWT Rumor

Sunday, October 30th, 2005

Well turns fans your wish is my command…..

Only read this if you really want to know…. This is a dream come true for me….I think the current actor is doing a good job but no one is Craig but for ……

That is right turns fans ….

It was posted that someone on the in was told today that yesterday

2-23-07 was Jeff Meek’s Craig last day on the set of ATWT…..According to the spumor, he has been working furiously to get in as many episodes in the can as possible before being replaced by Scott Bryce.

Additionally, the episodes have to do with Craig taking over worldwide. This bringing back the original is all a move to bring up the ATWT ratings and further info is that Chris Goutman’s (exec prod) contract has only been renewed for one year and so has ATWT…..Only renewed for one year.

Apparently, heads are swimming, as well as rolling, at ATWTamong the actors and staff, because this seems to be an all out if not last ditch effort to bring up the ratings, or else.

The source quoted that normally they would not leek this info but that it should all come out monday anyway.

And as of now cbs has not released any information on Jeff Meeks or Scott Bryce. So stay tuned…
As the world turns needs all the help it can get right now as the writing has been horrible as of late. Hopefully we will turn things around before it is too late.

CSI Continues - The Difficult Seventh Season

Sunday, October 30th, 2005

Well, it’s that time of year again. For the seventh year running, this fall season we’ll see a new season of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation hit our screens.

Since its debut in the fall season of 2000, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation has been a major draw for the CBS Network. It became the most watched program on television in the 2002-2003 season, and has since remained in the top 3 most popular shows ever since. As of the sixth season each episode attracted an average of 30 million viewers, and 90 million people have seen the show in the past year.

The sixth season closed with a spectacular two-parter in which Detective Jim Brass was left fighting for life after a hostage negotiation went wrong. When murderer Willie Cutler took a woman hostage in a Vegas hotel room, Brass volunteered to negotiate. However, when things went awry Cutler fired three shots at Brass - and one of the shots breached his bulletproof vest, a bullet lodging in his heart.

After Brass was rushed to hospital in critical condition, CSI Gil Grissom was informed that Brass had nominated him as his medical proxy, which meant that Grissom had to decide whether to allow doctors to perform risky surgery to remove the bullet or - equally dangerous - leave the bullet where it was and risk a stroke. Grissom, believing that Brass would have wanted it, ordered the surgery.

Meanwhile, Brass’ estranged daughter Ellie arrived, more interested in how much she′d get from her father’s pension scheme than in his well being. Grissom tried to make Ellie understand how much Brass cares for her, but Ellie seemed unwilling to listen. By the time Brass regained consciousness she had left, but Brass’ CSI family were still by his side.

The season closed on a surprising note with Grissom finally getting together with Sara Sidle - a story arc that has been several years in the making.

So what does the next season have in store for CSI fans? Well, while the show will no doubt continue with the format that has seen it become one of the most successful shows on TV the main story in the coming season must revolve around the CSIs relationships. With a new romance blooming between Grissom and Sidle it will be interesting to see how these two loners will adapt to the new situation.

On that count, at least, even the stars of the show don’t know how it will turn out. Jorja Fox, the actor who plays Sidle, didn’t know that she and Grissom were getting together until just a few days before filming, but she believes that this one is for keeps: “These two people, they have a lot in common. They’re both really not great with people in many respects, and they’re emotionally detached in many respects. If two people like that can kind of find each other, there’s something really beautiful in that.”

But it won′t just be the relationship between Grissom and Sidle hogging the limelight. As we saw in the penultimate episode of season six Warwick Brown’s marriage is on the rocks. After spotting his wife Tina with another man in the Lucky Dragon Casino Warwick confronted her, not realizing that she was planning a surprise party for Warwick’s birthday. If Tina walks out on him, will Catherine offer Warwick a shoulder to cry on?

We’ll have to wait and see… the story will unfold during the seventh season of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation on CBS this fall.

Translate Me, Please!

Saturday, October 29th, 2005

This article is for those who plan their visit to Russia. Let’s talk about interpreters today.

If your future bride graduated from the Institute of foreign languages and can speak 2-3 languages fluently, then, obviously, you don’t need an interpreter. In all other case sooner or later you will have to resort to the help of this intermediary. For instance, during the first date, when your girl is so confused that all the English words she learnt so hard by your visit, have slipped her mind. Or during the important talks while forming some official documents when mistakes because of misunderstanding are inadmissible. So, in a word, some couples need an interpreter all the time, others – from time to time. Here is one sad story with a good end and some conclusions.

William and Lena met in Kazan. Lena spoke some English, but just in case she still invited a interpreter that she had found among her acquaintances. (It was their first mistake, but they don’t know about it so far).

However, let me tell you this story from the end! When it was about time for William to go back, this couple came to our agency. They told us about their adventures vying with each other. The matter of fact is that they offered an old lady with bad character to interpret for them.

William: “She constantly touched me, linked her arm through my arm, stroked me. First I thought that it was a Russian tradition, but Lena assured me it is not!”

Lena: “I was really indignant that the interpreter didn’t regard me as his fiancée. For instance, when we visited her place, she constantly found excuses for me to go to another room, and meanwhile she showed William the photos of her nieces offering them as brides!!!”

William: “She talked nonstop! However, we agreed to pay by the hour. It appeared I paid for her chattering. She didn’t let us to put in a word! Have you ever tried to stop women like these?”

Lena: “On top of it all, she offered us her service for correspondence, though she knew that we use the agency for this. She started reducing prices, but the thought, that we will have to communicate with her often, horrifies me!!! We write letters each other every day! Please, translate to William: “I can’t correspond through her!”

William: “That’s out of the question! I don’t want to do anything with this horrible woman. I even paid her in advance so that she would leave us alone!”

After this Lena had a sigh of relief and we wonder again: why do people look for difficult and complicated ways? :) Nevertheless, as I said before, this story has a happy end. William and Lena have a good sense of humor and difficulties only made them closer. Now they are busy with making a fiancée visa.

Well, and we will analyze this situation not to repeat mistakes.

Do you remember my words that they made the first mistake when they took an acquaintance as an interpreter. Here is the rule number one: between “acquaintances” and professionals ALWAYS CHOOSE PROFESSIONALS. And here is the reason:

Even if she speaks good English, she has no work experience in particular for a couple. And it is very important! The translator for those, who date, should have special skills:

- she should be very tactful;

- she should be unnoticeable: the main are He and She;

- she should be able to smooth uncomfortable situations, and it requires experience

- since she often communicates with foreigners, who are looking for brides, she can interpret correctly things connected with mentality, peculiarities of traditions. If your acquaintance has been teaching English at school all her life and has never or rarely communicated with “real” foreigners, how will she make it out?

- if you and your lady are embarrassed and don’t know what to ask about, such kind of interpreter can always suggest a good idea. She helped so many couples and she knows well what a man and a woman are usually interested in.

Besides, it is difficult for just “a familiar woman” to feel she is “at work”. As she is simply talking with friends! This is why this absurd situation arises when an interpreter chatters unceasingly and what is more gets money for this!

Well, and here is an advice in case of emergency, but useful for all. You must choose a man who not only knows the language well, but who SHOWED HIMSELF well. Ask those who used the service of this man already. Collect more information about him. Because, sad though, but a bad job of an interpreter can cross your relations. Especially at the first stages.

I understand that it may sound as an advertisement, :) but for the sake of objectivity, I must day that such a story that happened to William and Lena is simply impossible at our agency. Because we have professionals who have experience of translation for couples. Here the advertisement ends! It was the information for those who seek the easiest and simplest way. :) If by some reasons you can’t hire an interpreter at the agency, here are some things you should pay attention to:

1. Sex.

No other answer is possible: it is better if your interpreter is a woman:

- It will be more difficult for your lady to open herself before two men. She will have to think not only about how to build up relations with a fiancée but how to behave herself with an interpreter!

- As a rule, while working, an interpreter gets very close with his “charges”. Will it be Ok for you if your fiancée will get close with a male interpreter?

- It is difficult for a woman to open her heart before an unfamiliar man, but it is much easier to do before a woman!

2. Age.

Age doesn’t matter. A very young interpreter, unfortunately, has no necessary life experience. Old interpreters have too much experience, that’s why they “talk nonstop”, like teaching, instructing and expressing their own opinion. Besides, it will be physically hard for an old interpreter to endure endless sightseeing, going to restaurants and night clubs. And then, imagine, you have a dating in your mom’s presence. Will you feel easy?

3. Marital status.

When I prepared this article, one of our clients told me the following story. Her friend - interpreter from German – was offered work by an agency. Their client – German man – chose five most beautiful girls and decided to meet with them in Moscow. And since their personnel don’t speak German, they took an interpreter outside. In this way the interpreter with girls found themselves in Moscow. You should have seen this company! Five smart women and who visited beauty salons, had their hair done and a short, plain girl-interpreter. I think you guess already who left for Germany finally! These five pretty women paid her money, but got a rival that took away their potential fiancée. No wonder it happened. The interpreter spent a lot of time with him. Women changed, but she was always beside! She understood him, knew his country, was interesting to him!

So, it will be better for all if marital status of an interpreter will be: “married” :))

4. Light character.

It is very important for an interpreter to be sociable and flexible. If she has problems at home, no one must see it. As it is not a couple’s fault. They must get the high-level service.

5. Psychology.

An interpreter should be a psychologist by nature. Do you agree? Sabina often tells me stories when only her frank private conversation helped to solve problems. Sometimes absurd ones, but able to break relations. For instance, once one of our clients came to us in tears and asked us to “entertain” further on the man who came to her, as she didn’t want to know him. The reason was that he constantly shouted at her. Sabina calmed her down as well as she could and then talked with a man in private. It appeared that he is a bit deaf, that’s why he speaks loudly! :) And he didn’t want to shout at her at all. Their relations didn’t go right. It always happens when men conceal during correspondence such important things as diseases, invalidity, too big disparity in years, etc..

6. Mental outlook

An interpreter should be broad-minded to fulfill his job professionally. If she doesn’t know anything about the country, a foreigner is from, probably, it will be difficult for her to understand him correctly, taking into account mentality and traditions.

7. Education

We have noticed at our agency that girls going to English lessons, are inclined to give too high mark to their knowledge, while professional interpreters never put the highest mark to theirs. Because the more they get into the language, the further the horizon moves. Nevertheless, make certain about an interpreter’s education while choosing an interpreter. It is desirable she graduated from the Institute of Foreign languages.

8. Nice appearance

It is purely psychological aspect of communication. If an interpreter’s appearance is unpleasant, neither you nor your girlfriend will be able to open in her presence.

And still, interpreters from the agency have extra advantages.

- She is in the know of the correspondence, you don’t need to explain everything to her from the beginning.

- She is a representative of not only a woman but also a man. A man has a chance to be in contact with her before the trip, consult, ask questions.

- It is always easier to work with a person familiar to you a little.

And the last advice. Don’t take an interpreter for the whole day! If a woman speak at least some English, it will be helpful for her to practice. With an interpreter she relaxes and doesn’t try to speak English! It is tried.

Don’t be afraid that you will not understand each other. Certainly, unless it concerns important things, like documents, visa, registration and so on. We saw many times how couples communicate when a girl has poor English. Patience, love and dictionaries help them! As William told to Lena when he presented her a digital translator: “When you put a word into this translator, your mechanical, visual and intellectual memories work. This translator will help you to learn English”. By the way, you can order this kind of translator at our site. For instance, as a present for Christmas! :) You will become her husband, she must get used to your speech, to understand you and to communicate with you.

Marc Antoine “Madrid” Smooth Jazz Music CD Review

Saturday, October 29th, 2005

Madrid is the latest Smooth Jazz CD realeased by the extremely talented guitar playing Marc Antoine who once again has delivered a brilliant collection of tracks. I’m confident Marc Antoine fans, and Smooth Jazz fans alike will be pleased with this one.

I wish it weren’t the case but, it’s not everyday that I get a CD from an artist that I can just pop in and comfortably listen to from beginning to end. There is usually a song or two that I just can’t force myself to get through. Not at all the case with Madrid. Every track is enjoyable and was pretty easy for me to listen to from start to finish.

Madrid is a pleasantly varied, mix of 10 tracks that are very well written songs by this clearly superb artist. With many of the songs displaying a lot of the kind emotion that makes for a really great listen. Seemingly drawing from what I can only imagine are his own real life experiences. At different points touching on the most real emotions of love, heartbreak, pain, failed relationships and unattainable romance. They’re all here.

Overall Madrid is an outstanding release. What I call must have music. I give it two thumbs up and is most definetly a worthy addition to any Smooth Jazz collection. Truly an outstanding Smooth Jazz CD. One of those that is completely void of any wasted time, as each track is simply superb.

While this entire CD is really very good the truly standout tracks are Sarava [track 4], Amour Hispanic [track 9], and Rebeca’s Waltz [track 10].

My SmoothLee Bonus Pick, and the one that got Sore [...as in "Stuck On REpeat"] is track 7, Concache. It’s a great track!
